It brings me enormous pleasure to introduce this short season for Spring 2023. Our last in-person concert took place on 5 March 2020. Now, almost exactly three years later, we return to Middleton Hall with a glorious programme from Hannah Condliffe, Simon Callaghan and The Ayoub Sisters.
In 2020 we presented a series of digital concerts, and we were bowled over by the support of you all in this endeavour – new to us, and, largely, to the sector and to you as audiences. Since then, we have been working behind the scenes to return to in-person concerts. Like so many other arts organisations, we have met many hurdles along the way. The last three years have presented unprecedented challenges for us all, and we have really missed bringing live chamber music to you.
We are making a gentle return in spring 2023 with a half-season of three concerts at Middleton Hall, and our second ever relaxed concert in Ferens Art Gallery. We are also already planning a return to our full six-concert season in 2023-24, and are aspiring to provide a relaxed concert paired with every evening concert in that season and onwards.
This is the first time we have ever taken a break for this long in our 75-year history, and we are deeply aware of the importance of you, our audiences, in making this possible. I hope we’ll be able to welcome you back, and please, as ever, do tell your friends and spread the word. If you’re coming, if you can buy your tickets as soon as possible, that will make us all breathe a sigh of relief! And, a further request – if you can’t or don’t want to come, will you talk to us about why? We aim to make Hull Chamber Music a welcoming and fun place to be for everyone, and we are listening!
To make sure you are among the first to hear our concerts and news, do sign up to our mailing list.
Thank you, and I hope to see you at our concerts soon
