Sadly, There will be no In-Person Events this Season
It is with great regret that Hull Chamber Music will not be holding any in-person concerts in 2020-21.
Since the Covid-19 lockdown starting in March 2020, we have followed the restrictions and what is possible very closely indeed, hoping for an opportunity to present concerts.
As the restrictions lessened and then increased again, I have re-imagined the season at least twice.
As the November lockdown was announced we were on the verge of announcing two concerts to be held in that month. Before Christmas, we were again about to announce concerts for February to April, but as of late December 2020 it has become clear that it would not be safe for us to hold events in this time frame.
It has been a very difficult year for you, our audiences, and for our artists and everyone involved. We are so keen to get back to bringing music to you in Middleton Hall.
While this has not been possible, we have been busy exploring the world of online concerts, and are delighted to bring to you Hull Music Club a series of online events brought together from the musical organisations of Hull. We know that online music is different from in-person events, and we hope that you will relish having two ways to enjoy Hull’s music scene.
We are working on a wonderful concert season for 2021-22, which we will announce to our email and postal mailing lists, and on social media, when it is ready. To make sure you are among the first to hear the news, do sign up to our mailing list.
Can You Help us Get Ready for Next Season?
It is clear, in this new world for classical music, that we need to budget for recording and broadcasting our events, in order to share them with people that are not able to attend.
The benefits of online concerts are huge- we have been able to share them with so many people who are not otherwise able to attend, whether due to health reasons, location, caring responsibilities, and so many other reasons.
We would love to be able to film our concerts when they restart, and share them to our new online audience as well as welcoming you back into our halls.
We are fundraising to make this happen. If you think you might be able to help, head over to our support page to find inspiration for ways you can support us, both financially and non-financially.
We cannot wait to see you again!
Katie Beardsworth, Artistic Director, December 2020.
